Are people property?
It's amazing what people think "property" is. Some people think that the fact that they ever met someone and had lunch with them means that the person is now their exclusive property.
We're all protective of our relationships - who we know, whether they like us, whether they want to spend time with us. If you know what I'm talking about (or even the incident that I'm deliberately not describing), then you know how silly it all is. We're all trying to make a living - socially and professionally. Give it up. Let the person decide who they want to be with. Let the "loser" find another toy to play with.
